So, why the name "Roasted"...? well, this was the best I could come up with to explain/specify what the wood is about, indeed, these blanks were processed from a very large Red Gum stump that was pulled from the ground and pilled among many other branches from smaller trees cut around this local property, common practice among farmers to get rid of stumps and trees from cleanups done through the summer months, the burning season only opens for a couple of months in Winter

When I found this burn stump I could see that not all had burned, in fact, at closer inspection I spotted an area where it seemed still fairly solid but completely blackened from the fire so unnecessary would be to mention how black I was after I worked on that burnt stump, the black did not stop until I had the pen blanks sanded and waxed, roasted seemed to fit exactly what the wood had endura, something that, for most other bush trees, would be absolutely nothing left from that fire but Red Gum trees are well known to be extremely resiliant.

These blanks were processed in such way that would provided the 2 tone blanks for effect.

While the wood is extremely heavy and dense, it works beautifully and reaches a good finish quite easily.

NOTE: Blanks have one face waxed for colour enhancement, allowing the true colours to be visible...!
