This wood was known/named as "Bay Leaf tree" by me, for some years, as any attempts to correctly identify this group of 4 trees living together, was unsuccessful, I named it for the similarity I saw in the tree leafs, with the commonly known and used in kitchens all over the world as "Bay leafs".

Only more recently the trees name was identified when the property was sold and the new owners saw this trees species referenced on the purchase contract...!

The wood has an interesting story, and all started when I was still "involved/member" of the Australian Woodworkers forum, I just had acquired a medium size branch and I didn't recognise the wood so, I tried to identify it through that forum, here.  You may have to register to be able to see the images, sorry...!

After that, and some years waiting, we not only got the correct name of these trees but, the new owner wanted them with a good prune/trimming, they had grow very fast and very wild, the branches were nearly touching the ground, these trees were stopped to be looked after some years ago and off-course, we were more than willing to do the job for free in exchange for any wood cut.

I know that I wrote a more recent and updated story about trimming these trees, I had a few pics with it but, for the life of me, I just can remember where I wrote it or more importantly, what have I put it under, "title"...?? sorry about that...!

The wood is quite heavy and dense but works as finishes, beautifully.  One face of each blank is waxed for colour enhancement...!

The wood is cut in diagonal.

Thank you for visiting.
