This wood was salvaged from a property not far from town, these are native species to Australia and this area has plenty of them all around.  

The main use for this wood is firewood, its resin crystal veins dry inside the wood as it grows, making it not a "clean" wood as most people call it.

The wood grows with a lot of flaws making it almost impossible to be used as slabs or anything of size that requires solid wood, we can get away with small blanks such as pen blanks but for anything else, it would require some extra preparation work.

These trees themselves create a lot of debris under its canopy, branches do snap and fall easily when dry, not a tree type you would like to put a tent under, any small amount of wind will create of lot of fire fuel if not looked after periodically.

The wood itself is quite pretty and easy to work with, medium density and fairly light weight, something not that common among Gum trees.

Blanks are waxed at one face for colour enhancement.
