These blanks were cut from a tree root, this timber species also known as Golden Cypress was sourced in the Australian Fleureau Peninsula region is situated about 70km south of Adelaide, at the edge of the hills with the town of Mclaren Vale, very much at its centre.

This is one of the lightest timbers I've come across, however, according to statistics, it is very resilient and stable timber, termite proof, and one of the lowest shrinkage and movement of all timbers.  Very pleasant to work with, soft to cut, very nice smell, and take finishes very nicely.

This timber has stunning grain and colours and provides a smooth finish in almost any method used. Parts of the wood/logs/slabs, have some birds-eye, rippled, and many other effects, normally only detectable after polished/finished, in most cases!

Blanks are only waxed at one face for colour enhancement...!
