This wood was found in a firewood processing plant that I found near McLaren Vale in April 2016.
This large timber/lumber yard gets most of the trees cut by tree companies that operate within this area of 70 or so km radius, trees are then processed into various type of firewood and then sold.
This Mahogany wood is quite dense and heavy with a beautiful deep brown and very pleasant to work with and finishes very well.
I don't have much more information about the tree this wood has come from apart from knowing that it was cut from this area. I have processed this wood into various cut types, this listing is for the straight/with the grain cut blanks.
There has been a number of new wood species that I have found and purchased from this firewood processing place, Ken its owner has been a great guy to work with and I'm pleased that I found it since I stopped doing any tree work since 2013. My interest for wood has not changed and places like these can be a great treasure hunt for people like myself and used to work with wood for well over 40 years.
I have wrote a small story about this recently found firewood processing place and share with all members of IAP (International Association of Penturners) based in the USA of which I'm an active member and vendor.
Have a look on this link for that story.
