This local Curly Gum tree, I didn't know what it was then, here was cut some years ago (2008), and while I processed some of the the immediately, the wood was mostly green so, it took some time to dry. What I didn't know was that, this wood is very temperamental, it does all sorts of crazy things while drying, it cracks badly and moves like snakes so, most of what I had processed green, endup as firewood.
There was a part of the tree butt and root that were buried in very wet soil, the tree had its base half rotten and some areas with strange spalting and decomposition. I created a couple of threads on IAP, talking about this wood, one was about the rotted wood that looked like cigars here
The tree was sourced in my town (Mt. Compass),in the Australian Fleureau Peninsula region, situated about 70km south of Adelaide, at the edge of the Adelaide Hills...!
The wood is now dry and ready the be worked on, one surfaces was waxed for colour enhancement...!
Thank you for visiting...!
